Wrecker's Races 2010

Key West and Schooner Wharf Bar hosts a 4 race series on the last Sunday of January, February, March and April. These races simulate wreckers heading out to the reef after a ship has wrecked. Their first duty was to save the crew and any passengers. Their reward was splitting the worth of the cargo. This is why Key West was the wealthiest city in the U.S. It can get a  little cold out there for the first couple of races. Sometimes we even get to have a real live Pirate aboard for the race.
